Model designation

So just wondering, and I know it sounds stupid... but what does the "i" stand for in BMW's model nomenclature? At first I thought it designated the car as "inline" since everything I saw it on was inline-6 equipped... but the 540i burst that bubble. [:p]

I belive it stands for fuel "injection" [thumb]

What about the 325? I've seen them as 325e like mine, and 325i, but I would assume the 325 is fuel injected...

Other subject. I've seen quite a few cars with no badging for model number at all. It doesn't look like the logo was stolen or shaved off either. Does this mean anything, like designation as a euro model or..
