I am leasing a 2004 330ci 6 speed. Shortly after leasing the car, I moved. This changed all my mileage calculations. The lease is up in 9 months and I have 21,000 miles left to use. I will not come close to using these miles. I was thinking about re-leasing for 1 more year, buying very few miles and burining through the extras in that year, but the BMW web site says that I would have to buy a minimum of 10K miles, so that won't work. I have been checking out the leasetrader / swapalease sites. Any thoughts on the best way to locate someone who is "upside down" on his numbers and needs miles? I would be interested in trading into another BMW, even if only for a short time.

Even though I thought the dealer was a nice guy, I would like to avoid simply handing these miles back to him. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your leased vehicle constantly has a "buyout value" from BMW, a price you can pay to buy the car out from BMW (which obviously terminates your lease contract) based on the age of the car and the amount of mileage you signed up for. This buyout value is updated usually once a month or once every 15 days. Find out the buyout value, assuming BMW does not know you have such low mileage on your car. Then figure out if there would be a profit for you to buy the car out from BMW and then selling it privately or through trade-in.
