Hey,
I saw I, Robot last night with a few friends and then we had to drive home. On the drive home, my friend who lives like 2 minutes away from me and has a Miata was following me on the road. There was a bit of traffic to do any real driving, but then we got onto 9W and I was a happy boy. 9W is the 40-zone (2 lanes on each side) that I raced the 330Ci on a while ago. I made the right turn onto 9W and slowed down for my friend -no other cars on the road- and then as I was driving slow on 9W waiting for my friend, a white E46 M3 pulls out of the diner. The M3 had rims, exhaust, and a custom license plate...I know the kid who drives this car, he went to my high school, one grade below me. Anyways, my friend in the Miata shows up in my rear-view mirror and he punches it and passes me and the M3. I hit it to catch up to him and M3 dude suddenly sees what's going on and decides to catch up. I was racing my friend in the Miata back and forth, of course it wasn't much competition (142hp vs 280hp), so I tried lining up with the M3 to race several times but I don't think he was too willing because the Miata was right in front of him in his lane, so he didn't have much room. So basically we were just alternating leaders, driving on 9W at 80mph until it turned into 1 lane (we let the M3 go first) and there was a guy going 45 in front of us so we were stuck for a while and the M3 took the turn into Rio Vista and the Miata and I just kept driving to our homes.
I think what happened was that the M3 driver saw my friend and I being aggressive and he caught up to us to watch or whatever and we just like threw him into the mix and wanted to see what he could do. I was DYING to race that M3 though, head-to-head just to see what would happen. I'm pretty comfortable with high speeds on this one strip of 9W but I don't think the M3 driver wanted to do a full-out race with me (which was probably smart of him because none of us wanted to end up with any tickets tonight). Oh well, the M3 dude lives pretty close to me so I'm sure I'll catch him another time.
Thanks,
MrElussive
