As I was cruising around Bamberg Germany yesterday, I actually saw a car that made my jaw go slack and eyes pop out of my head. The pictures do this car no justice at all. Of all current model cars that I have seen, this car demands more .........something..........than any other that I have seen to date. I am normally not to impressed with MB's styling......but this car was nothing short of SPECTACULAR. BMW better hope that I don't win the lotto tomorrow.....if I did I might be purchasing a new MB CLS 500. What do y'all think? Has anyone else actually seen one in person?

Yeah i agree that it's certainly a very striking car. I think it looks a little too fat around the rear-wheelarch and perhaps to little too elongated to satisfy the proportion of my own eye.

Nonetheless, i do find it's a handsome car and continues with Mercedes' impressive styling of late. The SL, CL, and new E-Class especially reinforce this view for me. I wonder if this CLS has any direct rivals?? I can't really think of any off the top of my head [scratch]

It's kinda like the 6 series. In between the E class and S class. The CL is the coupe version of the S class, but it's kinda priced above it. It really doesn't have any direct competitors. If you had to name one, it would be the 6 series, but that's a real stretch. I really don't see a point for it, but whatever.

Really? I had read in some deutsche Automagazine that it would be priced higher than a well equipped E Class, but lower than an S Class. Pricing it higher than the S is pointless, since it will have the same 500 engine (and yes Mercedes is a whacked company of late, but not that so...yet).

I got to hand it to Mercedes, a lot of their newer cars including the redesigned SLK looks pretty sharp.

Just read about it in Automobile December issue. They estimate CLS 500 at $65K and predict the AMG version at $82K (0-60 in 4.5 sec, 19 inch wheels). Only 4 seats. Some S class features. They suspect it will take sales mainly from the E500, but they say MB intedned it to fight Jaguar. Personally, I like the styling.

This car doesn't really make sense. 2 door practicality with 4 door performance. I'm pretty confident headroom and all space in back will be tight. It's like the Isuzu Vehicross: performance of an SUV with the practicality of a sports car. I must say though, this Benz has nice styling, especially in the back. The interior looks great as well. It seems like a really cool car, but not the most practical.

Oh, and its still a C-Class! They need a new name! Maybe the V-Class for the Vision concept name it had (I think this is the Vision...?)

And I'm sure it wont be offered with a manual...

That house kicks some serious buttocks!

Now this Aston V12 Vanquish S is a beautiful motorcar:

I think it's one of the best looking cars on the road at the moment.
No doubt. Clear purposeful design. At once voluptuous and muscular, clean straight lines. No fancy pants headlight displays or eye-sore body part creases. And it's as beautiful in person as in print!

If BMW has any extra money left over unspent after selling iDrive to Microsoft, they need to jump on the designer of this car and quick. Or it's time to swallow the pride and at least start aping his designs...like Acura does BMW.

(I think we're in trouble...he's got his fogs on and there's no fog...oh well, it's a Vanquish!)
