Just thought I would share my first Wow, OMG, M3 experience. As I was coming home, the light turned green as I was beginning to downshift. I was is 2nd, and was able to make the turn without slowing down or going into 1st. I made the turn, and right at the tail end of the turn I hit the gas. It was by no means full throttle, but a very generous dosage of gas [:)] ....it was the most amazing feeling. I do not think I have ever had that pushed into the back of the seat feeling as much as I did today. I swear the rush, power and acceleration seemed endless...the band of power was incredible. It was such a high. Today cemented the reason why M cars are so frickin' amazing. I am still smiling.

Everytime I take the roadster out I wait for the right moment and accelerate hard, shifting fast and smooth....rush...the exhaust note hums and becomes louder......my heart races and I get pushed back in the seat.....I know what you mean!

LOL, I still get that same feeling after nearly four years of ownership.
Me too! I love it when you have DSC off and take the corner just right and lay on the gas and you can feel the tail wanting to come around. You just hold it in the sweet spot (the fine line between traction and tire spinage) all the way around the corner. It's even fun to let the tail come loose a little and then guide it back in....

Yeeeah Hawwwww......couldn't agree more, but I do not have DSC, ASC, or any of that. Every once in a while, if I am in a playful mood I will take her up to 7900 before I shift up, but that is only when I am really getting on it.

I'm jealous - my rev limiter cuts the fuel at 5000 rpm. [?|] It's aggravating because the engine really wants to keep revving beyond that.

The Camaro will make it to 5500 rpm safely, 6000 rpm if I feel like pushing it. It wants to keep going past that, but if I were to let it, it would be the last time it ever does it. Just way too much mass in an old iron 5.7 liter engine to push it any faster than that. Oh, but the sound of an old detroit V8 at 5500 rpm is simply ferocious.

Yeah Deutsch you've caused a pain in my chest area talking about your E46 ///M3! I used them at the BMW Driver Training Course with my brother and we both chose to use the manual versions. Damn, I will never forget the fact that I was giggling like a little girl the first time I nailed the throttle in that car.

My brother was the same... I know how you feel though. It's just such an awesome feeling.

One of these days I will get my E34 M5... [bigcry]

Yeah, what he said!

I cannot agree with you more, the M3, IMO, is one the most amazing cars in the world. I enjoy not only the long drives but look forward to the 10 minute drive back to my house after work. I usually don't put the Sport on b/c of the gas but on a nice afternoon I flip it on, turn the DSC off, and get blown back in my seat as I am once again amazed by the power. Driving an M is like driving a rollercoaster, and you hold the wheel!

In regards to the RPM question...I usually get mine to about 3-5 unless I am trying to have fun, then I go higher.

All this talk of driving, I think it's time to go do it! [wiggle]

I know what you mean about the horsies. I think about my 98 having only 240 from the factory and want more, but than again I have the Dinan stuff, no ASC, DSC, or ESP for that matter. Haha.......

I hear that! Believe it or not once you own an M you will find you get use it even. I find myself wanting even more. If/when I ever get the money I want to upgrade my car *wink* *wink*...

There is never enough power. I want more too. I know I know, I'm being greedy, but what can I say. I love power.....

The real fun is to turn off DSC and to sweep with a tail 3-5 feet while accelerating in 2nd gear on the U-shaped upwards highway ramp - just when you are in the "sweet spot" push the gas pedal a bit - here you go :)

That's what they call drifting... ;)

That is really fun to, but only when the tires get worn down and you are about to replace them. Otherwise it cost to much to do that sort of thing.... [thumb]
