location of serial engine number

Does any one can help me in locating in the engine of a bmw 525 diesel from year 2000, the engine serial number ?

Welcome to the forum! Does your owner's manual tell you where the serial # is???

I believe the engine serial number is engraved on the front right area of the engine cover... (not the top, the front-forward side area) thats on the 2.5 and 3.0 engines which are used in the 3,5, and X series BMW's I don't know if diesels are different but you can give what I suggested a look.
