My Dad collects BMW's, and he has 5. He has two E23 parts cars, and 2 E23's that he drives...and then a 635. My first car was a 325, which I still have...and my husband and I just bought a 735 that is a standard. It was quite a find, and a great deal. All of our BMW's are 84-90 as far as year goes...so obviously none of them have LATCH. Right now I drive a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan because of that.... [rolleyes] But I want to get back into a BMW.

I know that the 3 series had LATCH earlier than 2002...but I am looking more at a 5 series or maybe an X5. Does anyone have a vehicle (even if it's not a BMW, I'd like to know it's an option) that has LATCH anchors on both the passenger and driver's side of the back seat? I have two little girls, 18 months, and 8 months...both still rear facing (low muscle tone, both were premature) and my problem right now is that only the two seat bench of my van has LATCH, and having them right next to each other causes problems with stealing toys, bottles, ect.

Thanks in advance for any help. [wave]

i think latch is the bar that runs through the door, from front to back - durring side impact, the bar is pressed in and latches to the front and rear of the door housing frame to instantly create a cage and stronger frame. And is supposedly supposed to unlatch by its self after the impact so you can get the door open..... i was reading through the e46 book, interesting technology in there!!!!

but i could be completely mistaken, as ive never heard the term LATCH.

No, LATCH for Carseats....

I saw a discussion about this somewhere....LATCH, for easier installation of carseats. They are in the seat, two would be right by where the seatbelts hook, and the other two would be closer to where the seatbelts are, but still in the crease of the seat. It has another name in Europe....ISOX or ISOFIX something like that. It is to install carseats.
