The technicians and service advisors went on strike at BMW/Mini of Mountain View several days ago. Please know to those that are affected we didn't want this. We are owned ny Autonation and for many months have been trying to work things out prior to our contract expiring. Unfortunately AN has insisted on us losing all our sick pay, losing 4 holidays, major cuts/losses on health care, a flatrate/commision based system and paycuts. We did not ask for this, going on strike is no easy decision for us but based on what we were offered it was the only alternative. Living in the Bay Area is not cheap and nost of us tech have invested far too much in our careers. As most of you know the days of the "flatrate/hack tech" are gone. Look at any new BMW be it a E60,90, 70 or any other and we all know the days of paying based on how fast you get it done lead to trouble. Much less dealing with a advisor paid on commision, ours were hourly. We didn't get solely paid on what you spent. Please understand we value you, if you see us out there honk a horn and wish us luck.

yep

Welcome to corparate America. I think you are exagarating a little bit. Many of those are require by law. Here in Texas is all flat rate and if you are hard worker and you are a good tech, you make your money and we don't make 30ish in hour but there are few who are 90k+ anyway good luck with the strike
