I wanted to pass this along to others in the Dallas area. A business card was placed on my car over the weekend. The card was for a german mechanic with 30 years experience who specializes in BMW's. Since my inspection 1 light had come on a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd give the guy a call. First, I called Classic BMW and asked them how much an inspection 1 would cost for a 1995 318ic with 101,000 miles. They quoted me $715.00. Ouch! I then called the guy on the business card and he quoted me around $225.00. I decided to take a chance and made an appt. and I can't tell you how pleased I was to find him. I have finally found a competent mechanic that I can trust. I watched him as he worked and he showed me everything that needed to be repaired. If you are in need of some work, I definitely think it would be worth your while to give him a call. It is a bit of a drive, but it was worth it for me. His name is Joe and he's probably the biggest fan of BMW's that I have met. He went on and on about what great cars they are and how mine should last me a very long time.
