I am sure most of you all remember the HORROR I had with my 2004 530i. iDrive issues, Tranny issues, Alignment issues ect...ect..ect... The reason I sold a 50k car after less than one year.

Now my X3 is becoming problematic.... oil pan exploded...literally. The tranny is jacked up (steptronic) car will not shift when it is supposed to and shifts when it is not desired.

Example... driving on the autobahn at 80-90 miles per hour it gets stuck in 3rd and wont shift to 4th thus causing it to run at 6000 +rpm's. Or i was in pretty close traffic at 65 mph and it upshifted launching the car forward. Had i been any closer to the car in front of me.... I would slammed into their rear end.

I took it to the dealership and they attempted to tell me it was my fault and the warrantee would not cover it. BULL PUCKEY!!!! They covered it and they are going to replace my front drivers seat that is cracking...free of charge.

Ok in Germany the warrantee is good for 2 years... there is an option of purchasing an additional 2 years for 550 euro (about 750.00 at todays exchange rate) and the dealership tells me it is not a possibility because it is US Spec.... what kind of BS is that?? In the states, they have 5 year unlimited milage and free services.

I am really having seconds thoughts about staying in the brand. I had a check ready to begin production of my 2007 335i coupe.... but I have pulled it due to these seemingly BMW NAME issues.[bigcry]

The X3 is a bastard child though. I wouldnt base BMW quality on that car, ESPECIALLY the first X3's, which were horrible all around. Overpriced, cramp inside, horrible styling, cheap plastic bumpers. (No offense toolfan) I also doubt that BMW would mess up on their flagship car (3series).

I agree with Matt 100%. The first X3s were basically rubbish (no offense at all!) I think the 335i and 328i coupe and cabrios cannot even be compared to an older X3. Btw, the 2007 X3 seems pretty great. If I didn't fall immediately in lurve with the 07 X5, I was going to get a sport pkg. silver gray 2007 X3. I think you should re-consider getting your new 3er.
