ipod adapter question

got my ipod adapter installed today by my buddy's shop. now my radio doesn't turn off when i take my key out of the ignition. it stays on. i have to hit the off switch for it to go off. any ideas what went wrong? i have an '04 330i. anyone else with an '04 330i with the ipod adapter installed?

Does your radio turn off every 15 minutes when driving the car?

If so, the radio can no longer sense the 12V power which is on during vehicle ignition, thus can't automatically turn off and on. (The radio still receives the 12V always on power, and thus will turn off every 15 minutes as though the ignition was off.)

My friend had this in his Mini (same head unit electronics), and the problem was fixed after replacing the radio fuse. Try replacing the fuse and see if that helps. If that fixes it, the installers likely did not disconnect the battery during the install and shorted the wires while modifying the wiring harness.

The other possibility is they didn't put the wires in the correct holes when rewiring the wiring harness and the head unit can no longer sense the 12V vehicle ignition.

tks for the reply.....dude, yes. it goes off after 19minutes to be exact. hehe. i'll tell them try the fuse thing and if that don't work tell them to start over! tks again.

This exact same thing has happened to mine. Just as well, the BMW assist feature does not work...which fuse needs replaced?
