My dealer has notified me that BMW will be changing up its models for the 2007 production year.

The 325i & 525i (mid-2007 model) Sedan will now be known as the 328i, 328xi, 328i Coupe and 328xi Coupe; the 5er will be 528i and 528xi.

The 330i and 330xi will be the 335i Sedan and 335xi (maybe) along with the coupe but no xi model, the 530i will be the 535i and 535xi (possibly).

So basically the engines are getting much bigger but he doesn't know whether or not the twin-turbo will have the all-wheel drive option (apparently nobody does). The 3er will be in dealerships late-Sept -early-Oct, and the 5er should be available next spring, the 328i Coupe is already at some dealerships (the good ones).

The pricing is increasing moderately, but unnoticeably—I drove the 335i Coupe about a month ago, fast infact faster to 60 than the 650i! But not as efficient you’d get anywhere from 25-29 MPGs on the highway (a far cry from the 30-32 MPGs from the 330i).

It looks like BMW having a 3.0 in the 325i makes sense now. They were planning on changing all the engines.

Oh the 2.8 or 3.0 models will have 230 HP and as everyone knows 300 horses in the 3.5, which is actually a 3.0 litre with 1/2 a litre added from the twin-turbos.

Very nice, the latest issue of Car & Driver has their 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds and 13.6 sec @ 105 mph for the quater mile. That's pretty darn impressive.

This Fall the Frankfurt Auto Show, The M3 Line and 3er Cabrio will be unveiled.

I think you are mistaken, there is lag, it is impossible to remove all remnants of lag in a turbo-charged engine, BMW just manipulated the engine enough that the average person doesn't notice it—A big reason why they used small twin-turbo chargers.

It is a great engine but I don’t know, I’m not used too it I guess.

BTW the 328i will only be the xi model NO 335xi { to much power he said :)

The 335i Sedan will be about $38,000.

I just read a review of the 335i in the local paper to-night. The tester raved about the low end pull of the twin turbo, and says that the "lag" is still there. However he does say that it is barely discernible. This particular reviewer states that it is a terrific package...we probably won't see it in Canada till next year.

Damn, where did you drive the 335i? At your dealer? Special event? I went to a dealer out here about a month ago and they didn't have any coupes on the lot -- makes sense now given your comments.

I don't see the 335i ever having AWD. BMW loves to stick to RWD, especially on the faster (and higher-performance) models. Usually when the German car companies use a two-turbo setup, they do a bi-turbo setup where the two turbos are located at the end of each bank of cylinders. The turbos are small and spool up quick but are set at typically lower boost than an engine that features a single turbo. The turbos kick in at much lower rpm's, spool up much faster, and provide more linear acceleration throughout the power band.

The previous-generation B5 Audi S4 used a 2.7 liter biturbo setup (250hp, and 258 torque I believe) and it pulled like a monster, very little turbo lag, pushes you back in your seat pretty hard.

The most important thing that is going to make this thing fast is the 300ft lbs of torgue. Thats a big differnce over 330i like I have that only has 225ft lbs of torque. I thought it was fun accelerating in my 330i I can just imagine what 75 more will make one heck of a difference. [thumb]

About a month ago my dealership down in Milwaukee had one (not for sale but to show). I'm friends with the sales manager and he's like stick around afterwards, I'm like why, He said "So you can Drive it!" I only drove it down the street and about a mile on the freeway, but hey, nice. There is some lag but like I said you have to know what you're looking for to notice it.
