Have any of you guys seen the advertising that compares the two cars?
It has a quote from BMW ...I can't remember, but something about having an increase in HP, and then the the Infinity part saying, "thats why we have 298hp and not 255hp" - or something like that. Sorry, just glanced at it. But anyway, I thought it was very funny, and they have also a web site which unashamedly compares both cars. Seems like a really "out there" advertising campaign! I don't think I've ever seen a real focus on the competition between two cars in advertising but thats sorta cool.

I think Infiniti is easily on par with BMW when it comes to handling and performance. The only thing I dislike about Infiniti is the way they integrate cheap parts and materials in order to cut cost.

Plus when it comes to customer service, BMW is still way better. I can attest to this first hand.

Not as on par when it comes to handling. One prefers a bit more power, one prefers better handling. In all honesty I hate G35's. They look nice but they are horrible driving cars. For starters, the automatic tranny computer is just plain stupid. It doesnt know when to shift. And secondly the car feels terrible when you are "in control"

I think Tom hit the nail on the head. The use of cheap parts and materials for the interior and other locations is straight up unacceptable. The Infiniti vehicles are no longer value cars if there is just so much cost cutting going on.

B M W, it's fine that you hate G35's and I have never driven an auto G, but I do not look for an automatic transmission when I am looking for a "drivers' car". Also, I have never had a 3-Series run away from me through the twisties, but I have also never run away from a 3-Series through the twisties. When it comes to straight-line acceleration, the 3's are decently easy to beat but the car definitely cannot keep up with an E46 M3 at all.
