I'm serious this time! ** NEW PICTURES **

I might be putting this:

in the paper this week (after an oil change, a $15 coolant temp sensor, and some cleaning).

... I'm either going to save up a little (or sell a watch [;)]) and purchase an E39 528i, or - what I'm more inclined to do - buy a 97 740i < don't know 'bout the L (because of $$$, but it would be baller status [fake]).

So yes, though I've stayed on the Bimmer side with my '76 2002, I'm pretty sure I'm going to make the full reversion to BMW. w00t [headbang]

PS, what's the bolt pattern for the 7er? I seriously doubt it's 112x5, but I think these ASAs would look decent on a 7... ? Otherwise that's a little extra cash in my pocket - or a little more in the pocket of the buyer [bash]...

Dude that A4 is lookin real nice. I dunno if I would convert just so you have a BMW. BMW makes nothing short of amazing cars, but Audi has a lot of heart, too.

LOL, I ventured to the Audi world for a bit but then migrated back to only Bimmer as well. Keep us posted on your car shopping.

Tom, any particular reasoning? I dig the way BMW does things, but I share Audi's obsession with Quattro AWD.

Don't be mis-lead......those Audi's are runners. One of the BIG 3 in Germany. You can always count on BMW, Audi and or Mercedes's to kick your ass on the autobahn....repeatedly. But you gotta do what your heart tells you. The only reason I did not buy an A4 is because my wife said it was to small for taking driving vacations (which happens.....NEVER). I personally loved the car and was kinda hurt when I was told I couldn't buy one........but then she made up for it said I could buy an X3.

Yea, I loved the A4 and still do. It's one of the comfiest cars I've driven for its size, and I've always had fun driving it. I think I'd be more happy with a 740iL now because I've driven a few and good God, they're the smoothest machines on the road, especially the body style I'm looking for! [cheers] I can't wait to get it now...

I want to get it in black, but it's more than likely going to end up being silver (since 90% of 7er Bimmers on the road are silver). First mod is going to be angel eyes. < Any places recommended? I've seen Phosphyres on a 3 series here at UC, and they look absolutely spectacular! I'd be installing them myself, but ease of install is more or less insignificant...[8]

Yea my boss said there really isn't a difference in price from the 740i and the 740iL for 1997. I'll get whichever he can find for me (since I get wholesale prices through work ~$7,000 - w00t). The 740i is sligthly easier to handle, but the iL is so much more roomy and comfortable, and so much more baller. I'd rather have it but either will suffice... I've driven both several times so I know I'd love either one.

And I'm definitely getting the foot rests for my back seat passengers, if I don't get any with the car... Those are a MUST-HAVE!

Don't get me wrong Emile, I still enjoy the Audi as much as any other Audi enthusiast. However I became very discontent with my A4 because it was just too problematic. The Bose radio was replaced only after 6 months, the auto-leveling feature consistently gave me problems, the CV boot was leaking and my driver speaker kept on rattling. Little things like that makes it very irritating especially on a $30k car, so only after a year of ownership, I decided it just wasn't for me and put it back on the market.

Yea I still love the Audi a lot! I've never had any problems with mine (I seem to be the only one [^] ) more than an $80 wheel bearing. I'm just getting bored with it; I'm not the kind of person who can keep the same car for more than a year or so and I'm going on two with the Audi (July 5th, 2003). I've had "For Sale" in the back window since Monday and I've had a few calls on it already, as well as a couple buddies and my buddy's father who all want to check it out. I'm really looking forward to getting another (newer) BMW, to add to my collection [wiggle] (1976 2002).

My first car was an E30 (1989) 325i Coupe, and I was in love with that car. I still miss having it, even though the 7-years-newer Audi was much nicer just because of that - it's 7 years newer [:)] . I could possibly have it sold sometime by Wednesday or so next week. Then I'll cruise around in my mom's '01 V70XC (w00t!) until I find me a 7. I'm way more inclined to get the iL the more I think about it, it would be so much sweeter than the i.

a4 is a jetta. psh. is it the 1.8t? fwd?

rock the 740, they're cheap...
don't get the 528, its not cool...EVERYONE has it
The A4 is NOT a Jetta - it's built on the Passat platform.

If you've ever driven an A4 and a Jetta or Passat, you know that they are VASTLY different cars.

And please point me to these "cheap" 740s.

Well since I can get it at wholesale price, I'll be able to score a 7er at around $6-7k (retail $12-13k).

Martin, it's a 2.8 Quattro.

A couple buddies of mine are interested in buying it, as well as my friend's dad (who is really considering it) - he's been playing with the idea of an A4 for the longest time, just couldn't find one that he was happy with and was in decent shape.

740i's are nice. No doubt about it. But believe me the iL is like, WOW!

Well I think I changed my mind again... I don't know what I want! Argh...

1993 Bimmer 325is (red 90,000 mi) >> most likely this one - if it's 5-speed
1998 VW GTI turbo
1999 VW GTI VR6 (newer body)

It would be kind of cool to say I have 2 Bimmers, and I loved my E30. The only thing I hold against the E36 is its plasticky-feeling interior.
