IDrive and Ipod

Hello - I just ordered my first BMW a black on black 650i convertible. I am very excited as I have never had a car like this before. I have recently heard that the Ipod and Idrive are not compatible. Does any know about this? Does anyone know if there is a work around this problem or when it might be resolved by BMW? I have ordered the premium sound system with the cd changer in the glove box, but it would be great to have my ipod tunes as I cruise with the top down.

the cd changer can be replace with a aux interface to feed audio from the ipod but nothing else to control the ipod dice electronics is working on that and maybe nex year will see that interface
