In November there was an accident on the 405, I was on Wilshire Blvd. Took an hour to go 10 blocks... Around here that only happens when a herd of cattle cross the highway....
Yeah, the streets aren't any better. I was at Hollywood and Highland and I unfortunately decided to leave right when a Radiohead concert let out nearby. Took me over an hour just to go 4 blocks. Luckily I was able to find my way out of that mess. Only took me an hour and a half to get to the freeway, even though it's only like 10 blocks away.
Yeah, I just sat in some traffic today on the Cross Bronx Expressway. The funny thing about traffic is that it seems like it always ends up finding YOU. [fake]
Fortunately, I have gotten so used to traffic that I don't even mind doing stick shift in traffic anymore. I just get really pissed off because I only have to drive on the Cross Bronx for like 10 minutes until I get to the GWB, but because of the traffic, it turns 10 minutes into 40 minutes.
The Cross Bronx has got to be the worst of them all. Hands down!!!! But nobody could consider commuting on that. I guess some might. Pot holes like you wouldn't believe (but I noticed over Thanksgiving they finally finished some repaving).
I don't even consider the Cross Bronx a highway...it's like a surface road without lights. "Expressway" LOL! Hurry up and wait.
Same for 95 heading up to Stamford. At least there they seem to be done with some conrete paving...that'll give 'em 15 years. But just brutal while they were working on it.
I've had to do the Chicago Circle run twice in the last month. I narrowly avoided having to do it tomorrow, but I'll end up going one day next week. I've lost all tolerance for traffic living here. I drive 65 miles to work and it takes me 45 minutes. Get on the highway, set the cruise at 80, get off the highway, then 5 miles or so of two lanes with about 7 traffic lights. Bozos abound, but just not as many as in Chicago.
sunset is absolutely the worst late (not TOO late) on a sat nite, especially if you plan on taking the 405 to get there, then continue to be stuck in a jam on the damn street...but i still love LA, traffic or not!
I once sat on the Cross Bronx for 4 hours while they tried to clear a really bad accident accident....and we finally got one lane open at 3 AM. CB is by far some of the worst traffic around.
