Very random. I know that in NJ you can't get away with that...what is a $0.65 toll or $1.00 toll suddenly turns into a $50+ ticket if a cop sees you pull a move like that (and it's very common for at least one cop to be waiting at the tolls for people who do that).

The tolls that genuinely should be avoided, are PA's. Tolls keep going up and the roads just keep deteriorating.

The PA turnpike between reading/philly is so poorly engineered its not funny. If you've ever driven on it while it was drizzling you'll know what i mean. Water runoff simply wasn't a thought.

The PA Turpike Commission will catch it on camera and send a nasty gram. I have an EZPass, one of the early ones. They had intermittent & premature battery failure. I read about it in the paper, and sure 'nough, a few months later mine randomly failed. I got a $40 nasty gram threat from the idiots. The stupid thing is that they KNEW they were having problems, they even noted that they had an EXIT transaction, but no ENTRANCE transaction, and they treated me like a felon!!!!!! MORONS!!!!!!

The business my friend worked for had an ezpass from new jersey that was registered to be used for many vehicles (so if they took a certain work van to philly that they normally wouldnt they could use the ezpass). So the one time my friend used it on his personal car, the company got a $50 fine, they filed an appeal saying it was for the business and stuff.... well, then the company got the fined removed but then they sent it to my friend [screwy] He just sent them a 'nice' letter recently, so we'll see what happens.

IL tolls have a gate and won't let you pass (Some of), in fact they add up the change before you can go. Won't work, the tolls have gone up to $.80 in some places thanks to the goofy Gov. yet WI's roads are better shape with no tolls, but we pay $.40-$.50 gas tax.

If you want to go broke from tolls, ride the FL Turnpike. Ouch. Just don't get going the wrong way. It's 70 miles between exits in some places... Ouch. Luckily it was only about 15 where I got going the wrong way... Stupid unclear signs.

That wouldn't work in NYC considering the tolls are so heavily policed... On the garden state parkway you could probably get away with it, I know someone who drives a church van and rarely uses exact change. Maybe it's divine intervention, but I wouldn't dare try that in my car.

Funny website however.

Dont be so sure.. my mom got away from tolls 3 times. Without any fines or tickets. She went through a toll booth at 50 or at 60mph in NJ.. 0_o.. Nothing happened.
She missed throwing in the money at one place, and just drove off, nothing happened. And in NYC, she accidentally drove into battery tunnel, and did a u-turn. A police officer flagged her down, but she got away with warning. haha

The only tolls I've dealt with in CA are on bridges. Hard to avoid the fines since you have to give your money to a real person in a sad little exhaust-filled booth (unless you have one of those fast pass gizmos). Cameras and cops are close by if you try to avoid paying.

Tolls in most bay area bridges are $3.00 and $4.00 for the Golden Gate bridge. They make millions with all of the commuters going into San Francisco every day.

That's cheap try $9.00 for the Verrazano narrows bridge connecting staten island to brooklyn in NYC...
I had to pay that when I went to buy my car, definitely wasn't expected that high a toll.
