How Long Must I Wait?

On March 1 I ordered a 650 Black/black convertible. This is my first BMW and a big step up in cars for me. Needless to say I am very excited and anxious to get the car. The car with the options I wanted was not available so I had to order it. I regularly (ok daily) check for updates on the BMW web site and now I am "awaiting transport" Does anyone have experience to tell me (a) how long it usually takes to get on a ship (b) how long it takes the ship to get here (I am in SoCal), (c) how long it stays at the prep center and then to the dealer? I was told about 8 weeks from ordering. OK it has been on about 3, but it has been over a week awaiting transport. I am in love with this car and can't wait for its arrival. Any input would be most appreciated.

Up to 2-3 months. Awaiting transport doesn't have a set timline. Once it's on the ship, expect about 3 weeks to get to your dealer. Has to cross an ocean, land on US soil, pass inspection, get prepped, then shipped to your dealer (depending on where you are, could be a few days), etc.

LA is near Port Hueneme (or however you spell it). Travel time once it gets released from inspection will be minimal.

I give you the following information at a price - you MUST post pictures of your car! [:)]

Unless you get lucky, you can figure 2 - 3 weeks from the factory until it gets on the next ship with room available. Remeber that it must go by truck or rail from the factory to Bremerhaven at the North Sea port before it even gets on the ship.

You *MIGHT* be able to track its progress on line, if your car is being shipped by Wallenius Wihelmsen. Go to this web page:

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/searchCargo.do?trackType=Auto

and enter the VIN of the car. If WW is the carrier, you can actually get the name of and track the progress of the ship. I was able to do this a few years ago. Please let us know if you are able to track it this way. We have not had anyone try this in quite a while.

Check out the other pages on the web site, it will fill you in on the processing steps while you wait impatiently!!
