How fast have you gone?

Well, last night about 3am on 91 hwy heading west bound there was absolutely no traffic. I own a 1999 540 auto. They said that it's governed at 155*. Well, last night i actually whent pass the tach. It seemed like it read about a little pass 160. hard to tell because there where no more numbers. but, it's a pretty close guess. The car still seemed like it had plenty of Humph left in her. How is this possible.

Don't take this personal but its the speedo, not the tach. The car is electronically limited at 155, so are mercs now, its a deal germans made with each other. This could be if someone replaced the chip in the car and removed the governor or your speedo is off and the computer knows the actual speed, don't ask me anything about this, I don't know how those work. Now, if you were going down a hill, that is very very possible with everything working properly.

Estimated about 135 mph on a crappy little hilly one and a half lane country road (really stupid place to do it) in my Camaro. I say estimated because the speedo goes to 120, and I was wrapping the needle back around the other side. It's scary how fast that car will get up to that speed, and it's even scarier to drive a car with 30-some year old suspension technology and non-power assisted 4 wheel DRUM brakes at those kind of speeds. The front end gets awfully light and squirrelly......

135mph on a stretch of relatively new and un-used interstate (other end not complete, thus little traffic except coming from intersection with another interstate)... i could easily get the car up to 145-150mph but have yet to try

yes is does have mods. Dinan cold air and Dinan Chip.

about 135 in my car and a notch over 180 mph in my friends Porsche Carrerra GT....wow was that a rush. And the top was down ! Surprisingly it wasnt at loud and windy as i thought. Maybe I was just paying more attention to my life flashing before my eyes.

in your m3? aren't they limited to 155? you have engine mods?

the GOV only stops you from going 155 if you are in 6th gear. if you do it in 5th, you can reach these speeds

i hit 100 MPH at like 5:30 a week ago on my way to a birthday party, probably gonna maybe 105 on the toll road, but i think thats pretty high seeing that i have had my licence for 5 months and 22 days....

Good point. Take it slow, try to play it safe as much as you can. Don't be stupid one day and punch it to 130...have a feel for 100, 110, 120, etc. as you push it higher and higher.
