Though it won’t make its official debut until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Honda has released pics of its new eighth-generation Civic that will be begin selling in Europe in the early part of 2006. The design is described as being a “wedge-shaped forward cabin” that we think probably wouldn’t fly here in North America though is most likely suitable for European tastes. There’s a lot of hidden utility built into Europe’s version of the Civic, with the hatch sporting rear seats that can be tipped up to form a second storage area or dive down to create a flat floor. Six-speed manuals are available across the entire range and the gas-powered versions also have an available six-speed automatic. Premium features like Vehicle Stability Assist and Electronic Brake Force Distribution are also standard across a line that features three available engines: a 61-hp 1.4L SOHC four-cylinder, a 138-hp 1.8L DOHC four-cylinder and a 2.2L deisel.

Figure I'll get this out of the way, "ITS HONDA IT SUCSK!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Anyways, I dont think it looks too bad, since hatchbacks are incredibly popular over there. I know by watching top gear that people, in the UK at least, think honda's are old people's cars.

The only thing I don't like about it is the rear window and the funky looking headlights.
I agree, even the rear window isn't bad. The unitaillight is worse... However, IMO, the thing that kills it is that headlight right in the middle, where the grille should be. At least it looks like a headlight...

Eric you would like it, that is the ugliest thing to come out of Japan yet. What the hell were they thinking, I can't wait till they show that on Top Gear they will rip that apart, its not even a car its like a bug with 4 little wheels, and the front ones move. I would take a Proton or a Hy-Un-Dai over that car. This is were my hatred of Honda comes into play, crap like this.

I like the line "Premium features". I think I'm going to be sick.

Actually throughout Europe Honda and well all Asian brands are "za old folks" car, the reason is because they are notably cheaper than Euro brands, and their simple blandness attracts them. Which explains why Mercedes is the car for old folks in Germany -well rich ones.

Hehe, yeah, I know what you're saying, your're right from the visual aspect. I was thinking more of Bangle's philosophical attitude towards buyers - "We design revolutionary, beautiful cars, it's not our fault that you just don't get it..."

I don't know guys, the first words out of my mouth were "WTF?". I can't stand how it looks. The read is ok but the front, come on, especially with the light arrangement. Imagine how good that front will look in a few years when the clear plastic (or whatever it is) start to dull and yellow and whatnot with age.
