I do not currently own a BMW however i really want to get one. I found two that are in my price range with insurance and the price. I am a little iffy in my decision because although i would love to be driving around in a bmw i am a little worried about the price of fixing them and gas. They are both 2000 323i (s) one is black and one is blue. The blue one seems more legit the only problem is that it has 118,000 miles on it. The other one is black and is located at a little shadier of a dealership and only has 70,000 miles on it. I guess what i'm looking for is justification on getting one of these vehicles. I'm looking for problems the owners have had and parts expenses you've run into. I want to know if The high mileage on that one would really effect the car itself. Is this a vehicle that needs repairs 24/7 or just once in a great while?Any info would be great. Looking for GOOD and NEGATIVE.

Thanks in advance,
Gabrielle

I do not own a 323, however 118,000 miles on an eight/nine year old vehicle is not high mileage. What is a "shadier" dealership, I mean if the dealership is questionable than I would never buy from him/her regardless of the "deal". If both cars have been serviced properly, and I would suggest viewing the service records, than I would be ok with either (other than the "shadier" issue).

You didn't mention your price range, but try for a 325/328 at least, it will be worth it in the end.

Have a look at cars.com, they have great listings, and you won't be limiting yourself to 1 or 2 dealers.

A BMW dealer will sell "Certified Pre-Owned" but you'll pay more.

Also, the high end Japanese dealers (Acura, Lexus, etc) will have nice BMWs that were traded in.

But cars.com is definitely the place to start.

Good luck!

Also, get a CarFax report on any used car.

At cars.com (sorry to sound like a commercial for them) they often link right to the CarFax report (for free) to provide details of a vehicle's history.
