i'm including 2 posts in one, as they are somewhat related.

i'll be attending an autox event in about 2 weeks, and i need to get a racing helmet. (i was told motorcycle helmet woudl suffice also, but we'll see) i don't have a first clue about getting one, so any input would be appreciated.

the second question is that of a front end car bra. (clears are out of the question right now, because i already got some chips in it, and i'd like to fix them before hand, and i only got 2 weeks.) i read about colgan's and they seem nice, but price is about the going rate. any real difference btw different manufacs?

i can't get the oem bra, because i have the performance package (zhp) thus, wrong foglight holes.. not to mention the spoiler and the scoop. thanks guys.

Who is sponsoring the event? If it is an SCCA event, they (usually) check helmets and require a SNELL approved helmet as per National SCCA bylaws. It can be full face or open face. They considered outlawing full face helmets due to airbag injury concerns but have announce that no action is taking place right now.

Some helmets are SNELL poseurs. They say SNELL on the outside back sticker, but the REAL sticker that proves SNELL certification is always on the INSIDE under the lining. Sometimes you must really search to find it. SCCA has issued a notice about checking for the inside sticker when validating helmets.

SNELL is such a rigorous certification that you can be pretty sure it's a decent helmet if it is SNELL. What's more important is how it fits. Different brands DEFINITELY fit certain head shapes better than others! Try on 3 or 4 brands, buy what feels comfortable.

Good advice by Kirby and I would also suggest you try the helmet on in your car as some are larger than others and I banged my head against the A piller in my 318 with my old helmet.
