i love the fact that i have headlight washers, esp in bad winter weather. but i have a question. some of the spray comes over the top and land on my hood. since they use the washer fluid, won't that strip my wax off the hood? (it's just my theory) i would imagine it can't be that bad, since they put it in, but does anyone know for sure if using the headlight washer too much could be bad for my paint job on the hood?

Good question, i always wonder about that too...even with the windshield wiper fluid that runs over the top of the car. I've seen some stuff advertised as being real tough on bugs, and what not. I think they're all just a mild soapy water...some with chemicals so it doesn't freeze in winter. That Rain-X stuff you add to your wiper resevoir kinda gave me pause.

But in the end, I think they're all just mild cleaners. Its not like anything in there is gonna do much of anything...the water flys past the surface in no time at all. That woudl be a good test...I wonder if plain water would give you just about the same result.

There probably wouldn't be much of a difference, washer fluid is most likely just dyed soapy water and alcohol to prevent freezing.

don't use it in your fuel tank either.. a friend of mine that has a mech shop had someone bring their turbo mitsu eclipse with a screwed up engine that did that. said he heard it would work if he ran out of gas.... it did run for a minute or two...
