Having lots of fun in the snow with RWD :-)

#1
Well we got about 3-4 inches of snow in my area of NJ and me and a few friends went out to go drive around and hang out. Today was my first day driving in the snow and none of the roads were clear. As soon as I made the first turn the car fishtailed and spun around 200 degrees, lol. Anyway, i got the hang of it and there were no more safty mishaps. After driving around for a while we went to a big empty church parking lot and just had fun with the car. It's a lot of fun to drive without traction or anything and just play around with it on the ice. We did that for a while and then got a sled and some rope and tied it to the tow hook on the back of the car. That was really fun too. Anyway, I was just suprised how much fun it was driving around today in such bad conditions. The roads were empty and by the end of the day I could slide the car into every turn I was going to make. Having RWD on a light car is definitly not as good in the snow as FWD or AWD but as long as you're careful it doesn't seem to be a problem and when you don't have to be careful it's much fun. [:)]

This is BS! Everyone to the south and east has snow, but here in Southeast Michigan we've got 'nuttin! I love the first fresh snow, and getting re-aquantied with the easy slidin' rear end (and the cars, too!)

On another note - My fiance is scared to drive her first rwd car this winter. She's never had a rwd, I've never had a fwd... Opposites attract!

Glad you had fun !! I wanted to take my car out and have some fun too, but my driveway is long and uphill, so at the end of my drive, I wouldn't be able to get back up the driveway !!

I took my RWD car out today everything worked perfectly until my trip home when I got stuck on my driveway and had to push it by myself over the ice with a little help from some salt till it regained traction and I was able to drive the rest in 1st gear. Maybe I should have gotten the xi......[fake]

BMWs have horrible traction in slippery conditions. I've messed up too many times and ABS has saved my ass every time. When it snows here everything is cancelled though because the people are pansies, so no traction doesn't bother me that much.

I'm out $600 for 4 new snow tires... that's not bad compared to the $3,000 I'll be out in the spring when I put some 18" SSRs & new rubber on.

yeah, i can say i whipped some serious shitties first day of snow in my car. then i went "skitching" (combing skidding and hitching) basically grabbing on to the back of someones truck and kind of like skiing down the road.

through neighborhoods this is a pretty fun and safe idea, but then i got an awesome idea to go out onto a highway, which turned out to be totally sweet, except for when the road got less snowy. i was on my feet, going 35mph behind a truck down a highway, and there wasn't a whole lot of snow. it was super intense.

after that we went to a big parking lot, and everyone hopped in the back of my buddies truck, and he did shitties while we all sat in back. it was a lot of fun. got me in the holiday spirit anyways.
