Hamann car vs. Hamann "stuff"

My question is like the M thing from a while back. If I understand correctly, to have a Hamann car would involve a car “built” by Hamann directly. And to get a Hamann car would require purchasing from an importer like Wheel Power, Inc. Huntington Beach, CA.

Wheel Power, Inc.

Anything else is just adding Hamann stuff, like the M car and M stuff, there is no question about the difference. Anything less than a Hamann build (of their specialized products) is not a Hamann car.

This would not be the same for Dinan where you can create this through your dealer.

So is this accurate?

I have no clue as to the answer to your question....all I can say is those cars freaking ROCK. I wonder if they do tuning on anything other than M's as far as BMW's go?

I don't think Hamann specifically requires you to have it built from them to be considered a Hamann car. If you use all parts but have someone else install it, I think that still counts. I wouldn't do it though. It's usually better to mix and match. Dinan's stuff is only worth about 1/4 it's price. Much better to just mix and match the aprts you want instead of trying to make it a particular company's car.

Someone on my street has a Hamann 3. I think all they did was throw some wheels on and a few other things and paint Hamann across the hood in gigantic letters. Perhaps “Candy Apple” moved on my street and now has a silver 3. [?|]

Anyway, it looks ridiculous to me. I guess I could understand it better the car was an all out Hamann with the engine work and all.

I agree with codex. If you want more performance (or a more performance look), you're always best mixing and matching parts.

Bryan, your neighbor is clearly in it for the Hamann look and reputation/image.

If you take the silver car in the picture, put on a stock 325 rear bumper, a bigger and a bit wider wing, paint big BMW roundel logos on the sides, and Hamann across the entire hood and you have my neighbors car. All thats missing is an Uncle Bens plate.

Why do people do this, there are so many Hondas around they could use.

i think that thety weigh different upgrades differently and once uve bought enough from a an authurized dealer, they consider it hamman or dinan, and send u a badge. such as, a supercharger or suspensionwill bring u a lot closer to 'dinan-ness' than body kits or something, even if it does cost less. i think thats how it works

I wouldn't do it though. It's usually better to mix and match. Dinan's stuff is only worth about 1/4 it's price. Much better to just mix and match the aprts you want instead of trying to make it a particular company's car.
