i need help in deciding which lowering springs to get. I've decided between the H&R sport springs (lowers F1.5" R1") and the Eibach Pro kit springs (lowers F/R1.25-1.3"). what do you guys think? they cost about the same. i'm leaning toward eibach because they are the industry leader in lowering springs. on the other hand i like the more aggressive stance the h&r's give. currently i have a HUGE front fender gap ~3" in the front. I had H&R's on my roadster before I switched to Dinan. The H&R gave the car a very hard, choppy ride, I did not like them.
Big Daddy did you have just the springs, or a total Cup kit or spring/damper set? I've heard the same from just about everyone that has put on sports springs without also changing out the shocks. I was going to do just that myself, but am aiming instead for a cup kit, so I can get a little more stock ride. If you had the complete kit and it was still bumpy, then thats another vote for Eibach for me as well..

The Eibach pro kit (shocks/springs) is the same as the H&R cup kit, (they both replace the shocks and springs) and are both around $600-$650. (www.m3moterwerks.com)

Has anyone put sports springs only on, and not had a rough ride?

I had the whole kit and did not like it at all. In fact the ride was so bad that when they took the springs and shocks off they discovered that one of the front shocks was busted from all the bouncing. I would go with the Eibach's.

I have owned both on previous cars and between the two I like the Eibach Pro kit much better. The H&R will offer a slightly stiffer ride than the Eibach, this is fine for the tracks but as a daily driver I prefer the softer setup.

Sweet, good info from folks that know. I think you just helped me decide which ones to get!

That's been the consistant thing I hear - H&R is stiffer, Eibach is softer, but still both drop them about the same.

I use the H/R and love them. I use all season tires so the ride to me has actualy gotten a little to soft for my taste, but when summer comes I will have a lower profile tire on 15" rims. Then It gets a little stiff. For performance sake I couldnt belive how nice the car handled over stock. Word to the wise: When you lower your car you will probably need to replace the shocks in a year conservitivly speeking. So I would find your-self a kit, better performance too because the shocks are valved for the spring and the car.

I wish I could tell you about Eibach but I have never driven on them, I do love my H/R's

I have Eibach and Bilsteins on my 535 and it rides great. The ride is close to stock with enhanced performance. If you want to improve the stiffness of handling further, you can always add strut/shock braces.

did any of you guys add strut tower bearings and aftermarket rear shock tower mounts for additional reinforcement? i'm wondering if its even necessary to make these upgrades.

what about the coilover kits? i've been told that they provide the most comfort. i think getting coilover's are an overkill unless you're taking the car to the track everyday. however, it may be worth spending the extra $200 for a comfortable ride. i would hate to spend all that $$$ and regret spending the extra cash on the coilovers.

My 1989 had H&R OE Sports with Bilsteins and Eibach sway bars, offset control arm bushings. I changed out the strut bearings since everything was apart anyway. The rear shock mounts need upgrading. I originally went to E30 cabrio mounts but they lasted 6 months. I then went to E36 cabrio mounts because E46 mounts were not in stock. They lasted OK.
