GREER, S.C. -- Two new versions of the Z4 will be added to BMW Manufacturing Co.'s Greer assembly plant, company officials say.Beginning in January, the Upstate plant will produce a revamped Z4 roadster and a high-performance M car, company spokesman Bobby Hitt said Monday.A Z4 coupe also will be built in Greer, but a start date has not been released.Since it began turning out cars at Greer in 1994, BMW has produced 970,000 vehicles. The company has invested $2.2 billion and employs 4,500 workers at the Upstate plant.
The South Carolina plant is switching from two assembly lines to a single line on which all models can be built. The plant also produces the X5 sports-activity vehicle.
