I would definitely request the car fax. Double check the service record. Also, have the car taken to the dealer where it is serviced and have them run a check on the car; usually runs just under a $100; ($84, something like that). Also, make sure it has the M-upgrade features. You don't want to buy something where all the seller did was slap the M-upgrade rims on the car. Post pictures and members on this board will spot a gem or a fraud rather quickly.

Also, I would try to get the seller down to $17,000.

Personally, I think 63,000 miles is okay, but for a 4/5 year old car, I would want less mileage.

I think $17,000 is an okay price.

Good luck!

I thought the M package upgrades had a 3 point steering wheel (as opposed to the 4 spoke); but I could be thinking of 330 ZHP. I also thought the suspension was more sportier. But again, I'm not sure. It does not look like this vehicle has the M suspension, but I cannot be entirely sure.

I looks like it's in great shape otherwise.

I cannot tell if those seats are real leather or leatherette; I don't see any folds at all which make me think it's leatherette.

Maye this is someone doing the upgrades themselves? Cuzz the guy said it costs like 4,800 for the bumpers, spoiler, rims/tires (bodywork paint also ) I assume. If you guys were me, what would you ask this guy, so far I will ask about the suspension, steering wheel. Is this a good deal so far or not? I was gonna buy a 2003 325 stock with 43,000 miles for $21,000 plus a 100k mile warranty. The 2002 doesnt have a warranty. Which is better? Thanks.

See, what bothers me if it's the guy doing the upgrades him self is broken down into 3 reasons:

1. Why did he want to replace bumpers? Was it in a minor fender bender? Hiding something? What?

2. The best (and most valuable) aspect of the M-package upgrade is the suspension compared to a stock 325; to just do exterior aesthetics to match it is not really adding value to the vehicle.

3. The car looks like it was a base model and he's gussying it up to sell it for a bit more than it's worth. Yeah the rims are gorgeous; and the bumper is more aggressive, but the car doesn't have leather (which he represented that it did), it doesn't have the factory M-package, which was the impression I got from his advertisment. The seller is giving me signs that would make me weary.

4. Personally, If you could get the 2003 for $19,500 or even $20,000, I'd go with that one. It's still under the factory warranty for inspections also. And you'll have the option of continuing the maintenance warranty.

At the end of the day, if you inspect that car and you feel it's good; go for it. BUT I would DEFINITELY run a car fax and have a dealer run an inspection.

Also, I believe, if you run the VIN, you'll find out for sure whether it came with the M-Package.

Good luck, Sean

PS - the sport package comes with sport seats. The seats in the picture are the standard ones which indicates that the car does not have the sport package. This might have been mentioned already but just my observation.

Go for the warranteed one. You dont even have to check it out. Anything...ANYTHING feels wrong, just take it in. No question. Go for the warranty.

My 2002 530I came with the M and sport package. Suspension upgrade, 3 pt steering wheel with emblem, sport seats, wider wheels, and no chrome (around the windows or anywhere) and sunroof. I don't know if the 3 series would be the same but I would think so. Either way I recommend the warranted car if I had a choice.

just so you know there is no M edition upgrade package in the states. they have the options in europe, but not in the states. ZHP package was offered on 330i starting 2003 model year.

externally the car looks really good. one thing to check, are the tires staggered? or the same size? if they are same size, this guy opted for $170ish replicas. i think they run 18 x 8.0 width. where are factory are 18 x 8.0 up front and 18 x 8.5 in the rear.

i could sense that visual upgrades could be innocent. upgrading to the m-tek front bumper adds so much to the looks of the sedan in my mind. the rims are well.. one of the best looking styles among any cars imo. so i could see why he might have upgrade. same goes for the rear spoiler, subtle but cool.
one thing to be aware, it'd assume 18s weigh more, but 325 brakes are smaller than ones found in the 330i. having heavier/ bigger wheels will be more taxing to the brakes, and is something that must be taken into account when +1 or +2 sizing the rims. (assumption that 16inch rims were factory.)

i really like the way the car looks, but as Sean said, the seller does show some signs of warning. you can always get the 03 w/ 100k warranty and upgrade later. good luck and let us know how things worked out.

oh and ask the seller how he got the "GORGEOUS M-EDITION UPGRADE PACKAGE" with his US edition 2002 325i? [:D]

oh and also adding the m-edition package doesn't like add $4800.

it was called a performance package, (zhp) and was something like a $3900 factory option, (under 4grand anyway..) and with that, you also got the better suspension setup, 10 more horses, silver or black cube trim, 3 spoke m steering, and 6 speed semi short throw shifter.

Antonio, i think its good that you came by before making the purchase. i know i would've been better off had i joined and asked some questions before picking up my ride. i know i made the right choice in my purchase, but there are other things that could've helped..

anyway, there are some posts that should be taken with a grain of salt, but mostly we are good natured bimmer lovers and sweet rides in general. come by more often and join in on the silliness [:D]

and good luck on your ongoing search. 335i is pretty hawt!!! [;)]
