Florida sucks for driving. Everyone drives slower than old people and you get pulled over for doing like 5mph over the posted speed limit....it's mad wack.

Explore the Keys. You won't be driving that fast but it's a great drive over the water. You probably shouldn't be pushing the new engine too hard for the first few weeks anyway (I assume it's a new car, if not, have fun...). I really like Key West.

I have heard the cops in Florida are really bad about speeding. Keep your eyes open for them.

Take the advice given by MrElussive and DRWWE-don’t push it in Florida. There are a ton of cops, also relatively high crime because they are only after your money it would appear. They don’t care if you get robbed, they just want to be there when you go 57 in a 55.

Yea, and I notice people drive slow there, but I do as well when in the state and my advice would be for you to do the same.

[wave] Blake...

I spent 12 years in FL.

Most of my time was in Ft. Lauderdale and then in St. Pete.

If you're headin' in that direction let me know and I can turn you on to some
great seafood rest./bars, beaches and clubs... [thumb] [drinking]

I think the reason why people drive so slow in Florida is because the sun is just so god damn strong and it makes everyone so tired and lazy. I am one of the last people to drive slow and even I can't help but follow the "herd" as they drive 10mph under the limit, lol.
I'm gonna be down in Palm Beach, FL next Friday whipping my jetski. I'm just glad there are no speed limits on the water. [thumb]

A jetski on the ocean is soooo fun and I cant think of a better place than Florida and southward. So how far have you gone MrElussive? I’ve had this thought about taking a big 3 seat along the Keys. I went exploring south of Tampa once but I got beat up after a while because I had a small machine.

I actually don't even take mine out into the ocean, it's just way too wavy for any size jetski. In the back of the house, there is a dock (which is where the jetski chills) and a private bay, I just ride around there. It's a no-wake zone, but being a private bay, nobody ever bothers me and the water is nice and smooth for nice high-speed riding. Whenever I get bored, I ride to the channel where there are other boaters. But I usually stay in the bay as dealing with other boaters and jetskiiers just makes things a little dangerous - obviously nothing nearly high risk, but when I don't have to worry about other vessels, it makes me more comfortable.
Here is a picture, the jetski is an 04 Sea-Doo RXP: http://www.amirsaleh.com/Emile/RXP.jpg.

Very nice, looks like a big bay area also. I don’t think I would ever attempt that side in the direct ocean either. The west coast side area is not bad as long as you don’t go too far away from shore which I never would.

Good call. That's exactly the case, if you follow the channel (which consts of 40 minutes' worth of no-wake-zone driving) and head out into the ocean, as soon as you're entering the ocean, the waves get HUGE. There is a jetski rental right by the entrance of the ocean and people are always riding around there, doing massive jumps on the jetskis, but I couldn't do that to my own...it's too much abuse to the jetski, you don't get to go fast, and you get sick of riding after just a few minutes.
I prefer to stay in the bay where I can constantly chill at around 40-50mph and have those bursts of acceleration to 70+ mph, that's a lot more fun for me than jumping waves.
