It could also be on a boat fuel dock. The lake that I boat at gets 50 cents/gal over street price for fuel, that's pretty common.

I've seen people with big twin 454s, like a Scarab, Cigarette, etc. drop $200 to fuel up. And they get 2 - 3 mpg!!!

$200 to fuel up is nothing. Many boats require $1K+ for a full tank. That guy was probably just "topping it off" after his run for the day...that is the most economical thing to do....just pay for the gas that you use each time you take it out (instead of waiting until it gets empty and dropping a grand on the spot).

From the reflection, it doesn't look like a boat dock. Just a regular land gas station. It's prolly someone filling up a mobile home or some big truck or something.

That is $2.859 per gallon...maybe it's some part of California?
Yeah it's California definately, they have the highest prices. $2.86 isn't that crazy besides in NYC BP (usually the cheapest, but quality fuel) wants $2.50 for premium and a sunoco in the same area wants $2.60 a gallon. NJ is usually 25 cents less per gallon than NY and that's probably due to NY's $ 0.25 in additional costs passed on to the consumer for gasoline taxes/requirements. It seems feasible that California has a $ 0.50 in gas costs and requirements passed on to the consumer. Besides I have seen $3 and some change gas prices on the news before as they interviewed ranting gas guzzlers...

Gas prices are goofy here. In my home area, $1.95/gal (regular). Just 7 Miles away near my office it's $2.15 a gallon, same brand. It is usually only a few cents different.

It's going for $2.89 currently in superior California. (we say that because people in San Francisco for some reason think they are northern CA). Our gas prices tend to be on the high end for the area (Redding), although if you go into the mountains they tend to jack up the prices even more.

We topped out at $2.89 last summer, so we will probably be well over $3 for premium by this summer.

This morning I followed a Honda Insight to work. I'm sure he was happy with his purchase now. Ugly little cars though--I wouldn't want to get in a wreck in one.

I was in England last month. I paid .90 gbp/liter = about 3.40 gbp/gal. The exchange rate is just under 2:1, so I paid almost SEVEN DOLLARS A GALLON.

North America is more pricey than we are used to for gas, but Europe is so diesel dependant that they run their refineries to emphasise gas oil (diesel, heating fuel, etc) recovery. This makes gas a little scarcer in Europe. Plus, they export a whole bunch of their gasoline production off-shore to us, and others...At 50 bucks (US) a barrel, North America still gets a helluva deal on gasoline..keep it tuned up boys..it helps
