I saw 2 cars in LA this week with the Skyline name on them. Both were G35 bodies. One was on the 90 out of Marina Del Rey and was clearly an Infiniti G35 with those badges, but it also had "SKYLINE" in silver letters under the Infiniti badge. This one had a regular paint job.

I caught only a quick glimpse of the other one on the 60 near City of Industry. It had ricer obnoxious SKYLINE graphics across the fenders and front hood.

I thought the Skyline was an Asian only name? Were these poseurs or the real deal????

In Japan the G35 is known as the Nissan Skyline Coupe. But it does sound like they are posing because you said they have the Infiniti marquee on them.

Putting the Japanese name on the car is quite common in California. I guess you could call them posers, but then again, they're not really posing since they didn't put the "GTR" badging on there so they're not pretending to be the car known as "Godzilla."

They're not pretending, it's just brand loyalty. A lot of people on G35Driver change the badging to Nissan Skyline. The G35 Coupe is the Nissan Skyline 350GT is Japan - what the car REALLY is, but rebadged and sold here in the US as the Infiniti G35 Coupe because most American consumers are very name-brand conscious. The cooler "Skyline" name probably has something to do with it. I'm leaving my car the way it is....I don't care enough either way to do anything about it.

in this case, it would've been weird for nissan to bring the g35 out w/ nissan name, since they already have the Z. and infiniti needed a sporty ride to compete w/ marques like BMW, Audi and such.

it would've been cool for infiniti to keep the skyline name, but w/ funky letter+number combo present in the infiniti line, it might not have "fit" that mold.

in the ricer scale, that doesn't even register imo.
