The local news here sucks because it is so hard to find stories and photos after they are broadcast. Anyway, this story was on the news today with pictures (still trying to find them) but a guy from France absolutely destroyed a Lamborghini in a single-car accident here earlier today.

I guess I was surprised by the fact that he was from France. I immediately gave credit for being a better driver. I guess I thought more experience with high-speed cars in a high-speed location but I guess a person can still be an idiot.

Yea, I wanted to get the pictures to post and see. I just heard the story and by the time I made it to the TV I caught just a glimpse of the car. The newscaster said "and yes that was a Lamborghini." The local news station was KLAS-TV 8 (klastv.com) but I haven’t been able to find the story there. I hate it when they do this. [?|]

It sounded like the guy was OK, which is good. I just think he should have known better.

PS-My point was not really the bad news of the accident, more of where the guy is from and that I would think he should have enough experience to know limits. And to destroy your car here, in town, on a side street, with no other cars involved ? [scratch]

So I sent a request for the story to the new station. This is what I got, what a joke this place is.

Dear Bryan,
Here is the script:
>>> A MAN DRIVING A LAMBORGHINI AT OVER A HUNDRED MILES AN HOUR... CAUSED A HUGE WRECK OVERNIGHT.

*CG S2 Early Morning Crash

Buffalo Near Desert Inn

POLICE SAY THE MAN LOST CONTROL, KNOCKING DOWN A BLOCK WALL AND A LIGHT POLE BEFORE THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE.

THE DRIVER IS A TOURIST FROM FRANCE AND SAYS HE WAS DRIVING A FRIEND'S CAR.

HE WASN'T HURT, BUT HE WILL BE CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING

That's true, but where he is from, the roads are more tailored for high speeds. In the US, our intersection turns are all around 90 degrees so it makes taking the turns fast, kind of weird. He was probably just being stupid and got into an accident...happens to the best of us....happened to me (although I'm far from the best).

Very true, these things can happen very fast and I would guess he did not know the area. The place where this happened is 7 lanes wide with a ton of street lights though. A good place to drive fast because of the space and I guess he was making good use of the area.

I think it's Exotic Rentals and it' so funny to watch people driving them around. I would not want that crap on a car that I was paying 200-500/hour to rent.

It’s actually amazing that he was not hurt and says something about the safety cage in the car because the glance I got on the news looked very bad.

Why would you give him credit for being a better driver if he's from France? Aside from all the joke reasons like being a wimp, their traffic cops are actually pretty strict. They don't have autobahns and if you are speeding, the cops will march you over to an ATM and make you pay the fine on the spot.

I don’t disagree with anything you say. However, in listening to the end on the news I thought it was his car and not specifically France but the relative location and the availability of high-speed roads in the area. Also, the area of the crash is surprising and unexpected for any driver in a single car situation.
