Last night around 9:00-9:30, my brother I and were driving around a bend and (he was driving his camry and I was in the passenger seat) his back end fishtailed and he couldn't control the car and we did a 360 and then became air born. I opened my eyes and saw the car was in air flying front passenger side door right into a tree. I closed my eyes and prayed; mysteriously in the freaking air the back end spun the other way and the car just fell down a ditch missing 5 trees that were very close together. The car went straight through a 7 foot clearance of two huge trees and didn't hit a single tree. That was some scary stuff. I was so freaking out of my mind.

Matters only got worse from that point. Both my brother and I pretty much walked away without any major injury, however, we took down two bushes of someone's property and both the husband and wife came out acting all angry yelling at the police officer, my brother, myself, and both my parents, and people who stopped to help my brother and I out of the car. She actually yelled at the people and witnesses to go away and 'that this didn't concern them.' Then she accused my brother and I of being 'drunk punks' racing down her street. She proceeded to insult my mother and father and tell them they are not good parents. Her husband told my father that he didn't care (actually said didn't give a sh*t) about the physical condition of my brother and myself and that his property was much more important.

Why do people like this exist in the world? I really don't understand why people have to be so mean; am I so naive to want to believe that people are intrinsically good?

Furthermore, I am noticing that the cliche; "when it rains, it pours" is quite true. I've been complaining a lot on this forum lately; thanks for listening and your support. I really appreciate it. It makes me proud to be a member of such a supportive board, and I can only hope that my contributions mean as much to others as yours to me.

Well, at least you got out of it safe and sound. I'd rather have people bitch at me and be safe than having someone's sympathy and be paralysed. I'm sure you would too. Anyways, that's very good that you lived to tell of the situation, don't let some jerks spoil the miracle.

That sucks man, glad you're okay though. Screw that guy. Unless you guys were driving MUCH over the speedlimit and were drunk, they are a bunch of assholes, and karma will bite them in the ass some day.

Sean, I am very sorry to hear about the accident. I am very glad both of you came out of it without any injuries.

Back in high school, I was in an almost identical accident. My friend was driving his new Grand Am GT coupe, and I was the passenger. It was drizzling, and we went into a really sharp off-camber curve on a little two lane road a little too fast. The back end fishtailed, and my friend overcorrected, sending the car into a spin. We went off the road, hit a post of a split-rail fence and ended up about 30 feet off the road in the middle of the woods. The car slit into a tree, which hit the passenger side quarter panel behind the door, denting it in. To this day, I still do not understand how we didn't hit a tree head on - there wasn't enough room between the trees to back the car out via the way we came. The really scary thing was that when we hit the fence post, it broke off, and the big 4x4 post flew up and hit the hood about 2 inches in front of the windshield right in front of me before it flew over the top of the car. If it had hit the car 2 inches further back, it probably would have gone through the windshield, and I may not be telling this story right now. Someone was watching out for us that night.

As it happened, we actually landed in someone's front yard. The owners came out of the house to see if we were ok and were actually very concerned and nice to us. They were much more concerned about us and my friend's car than their now-destroyed fence. A neighbor apparently called the fire department, and when the fire trucks arrived, the fire chief wanted to call the cops, but the homeowners wouldn't let them. They were very nice to us and didn't want my friend to be cited for the accident. I am very sorry to hear that the people you encountered were less than pleasant to you.

Sorry to hear about your accident, I'm glad you are OK. I understand why the people might be angry, BUT they have to be total materialistic AHOLES to act that way. No matter how mad anyone could possibly be over an accident like this, compassion for another person's condition is what is most important.

There will always be materialistic farts who are only out for themselves over all else. I feel sorry for them being so filled with hate, they must have been given a bad hand in life. Who knows. But don't let them get you down. Just pitty them for being so petty. Glad to hear you're okay!!!!

I was taking an exit ramp off I-75/85 south (Freedom Parkway for those in Atl). The ramp shoots way up in the air and wraps back over the freeway to go the other direction. It was one of those freezing rain types storms. Man....stability control works!!!! Every wheel's abs were going off at different intervals...the pulsing shooting up to the steering wheel...the car pointed one way...then the other. But I never went 360 or left my single lane!!! Wow! I'm not sure I could ever go back to a car without it.

Thanks for all your comments guys. I'll try to not let these people bother me too much, but they were really big jerks. The funny thing is they are obviously well off; the area is a very wealthy area and their home is upwards of $1 million, and there was a stable full of Mercedes in their drive way. What ever, one day they will learn. Glad to know I'm not naive for wanting to believe that people are good.

And to answer one question; we were not drunk, nor was my brother going fast. The city is doing construction on that turn and there's some type of fluid that was spilled on the turn. I went to look at the scene again yesterday and I noticed that four cars going around the bend almost lost control of their cars. One of them even fishtailed, but he caught it. I'm thinking of calling the city and filing a complaint stating the road was to blame.

Remarkably the only real damage to my brother's car is minor subframe damage to the front and all the rear tie rods.

One thing that scared the crap out of me was the way I felt every jolt and felt like the car had absolutely no control over the situation. When I had my accident in BMW, I felt like the car controled the situation rather well and I didn't feel like someone had barrelled into me at 28 miles an hour. In my brother's car I really felt the impact. So I'm trying to persuade him to trade up to a BMW, hopefully he'll listen.

And I wouldn't want to bestow physical harm to those people, but rather as Ghandi says, "I want to expose them to their own hatred, so they can understand how miserable they are." I kind of agree with you Kirby; "I feel sorry for them."

Oh, and everyone who I've shown the accident to keeps saying I dunno how you went through those trees. You guys are right, it really is a miracle. And Justin, I think I know exactly what you went through man; I think it's more frightening for a passenger cause youhave absolutely no control; all you can do is pray. Thank God for everyone's miracles.

Thanks again guys.

Sean
