Hi to everyone on the BMW Forum. I would like and value recommendations on getting an extended warranty on my BMW. It is a '02 525I and at 35,200 mi I have started to get extended warranty coverage solicitations. I have not yet even checked through BMW service for coverage.
My question is thisfrom more experienced BMW owners; should I consider spending $$ to have extended coverage on major components? I have heard that with BMW and Mercedes you want to lease or trade out at the end of full factory warranty coverage. The car is perfect; the only thing I've had to replace is the bulb-sockets for the halo headlight rings. I also know it's Murphy's Law at play here.
Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

I got the extended coverage (100,000 miles) when I bought the car. The biggest advantage is the included service. I like not having to pay for all of my routine maintenance so far.

And I did the opposite, I did not buy it. I have not had any major concerns with the car, but it is a 98 M roadster and has very little computer stuff. If I had it to do over I would consider it and weigh the costs and options. I would think in a case where your not paying for any service if would pay for itself?
