[bash] My 2000 BMW X5's warranty will be up in March 2005. What I am finding is that the dealers is trying to push off all the expensive repairs until after it expires. I have 35k on the car and wanted the brakes and rotors replaced and they keep saying they there is x% left on the pads and still dont need to be replaced. I took it in yesterday to have the brakes checked due to it pulling to the left when the brakes are applied and they said i need the tires rotated, balanced. and a front end alignment. Can you believe they charge $90 to balance the tires.. they must use gold weights instead of lead. I had them just rotate the tires and will do the rest when i have the tires replaced but once again the brakes were with in spec.

My question is are there any reputable extended warranty programs other than BMW. They want $3200 to extend the original one..

Thanks

yup $90 to get the suckers blanced and rotated. something about labor hours.. all i heard was, BS BS, $90 rotate, balance, BS BS blah blah.. $3200 sounds like a lot! but be aware there are 2 different type of extensions. one is warranty, the other is maint work coverage. maint work coverage will cover the brakes and such, oil change and other inspections, which will get costly if you put high milage on the car. and iirc, was cheaper than getting a warranty extension. so maint extension was the better one to get.
