The Swedish games executive who smashed a Ferrari Enzo on the Californian highway has been sentenced to three years in jail.

A couple of weeks ago, we brought you the story of Bo Stefan Eriksson, who was alleged to have crashed his Enzo in a high speed race with a Mercedes McLaren SLR.

Charged with car theft, embezzlement and drunken driving, and with a back catalogue of assault and fraud, Eriksson's trial was shaping up to be a high-profile affair.

Now, after weeks of wrangling and reports of mistrial, a conclusion seems to be close at hand. We've done our best to pick our way through the intricacies of the US legal system, and it appears that Eriksson is looking at a lengthy stay behind bars.

Pleading no contest to charges of drunk driving, Eriksson was sentenced to six months in jail after allegedly crashing the Ferrari at speeds in excess of 162mph in February this year.

He was also sentenced to a further three years in a state prison, after he pleaded no contest to charges of embezzlement and being a felon with a firearm.

As part of the plea deal, Eriksson's Bel-Air home will be sold, with the proceeds going towards damage payments. He will also be deported once he has served his sentence.

It seems the god of beautiful cars has wreaked wrathful revenge.
