Agree, I read about that too, if it stands up to the pressure long term what a huge savings in weight. M3's have cast Iron blocks, must be heavy as @#$%
that sounds more in line. i also read somewhere that the new i6 will have the 3.5L as the high hp powerplant.
i still remember the days when 911s and NSX were churning out near 300 NA horses w/ the 6, and that was an engineering marvel. in lil over 10 years, mass production 6s are right there..
But we already saw that PDF file of the new 3-series brochure in that wack language. The two engines produced the 265hp and 231hp as listed above. Does this mean BMW recently changed their minds or something?
If anyone the brand new Road & Track (got it yesterday), they hvae a little article about the new 3.0 liter engine from BMW. It will produce 265hp with a new 7,000rpm redline and will consume less fuel.

I think that the 265hp and 231hp numbers are more true. He said the they were asked questions about how much they would pay for BMWs with the higher output specs. Not necessarily that they were gonna produce the higher displacement engines. Still, BMW will finally compete evenly with the G35s and 350Zs.
