E39 Subwoofer via line level inputs

I have a 2000 540, and want to put some subs in the trunk, not to listen to gangster rap and annoy everyone I come into contact with, but just to give my car some much needed bottom end. I went to suck-it-city and worst buy, and they either didn’t want to touch it, or it would be some long complicated thing. I just want to hook the amplifier via line level inputs off of some existing speaker. I wanted to know what the wire colors were for a speaker that hadn’t been crossed over without digging into every wire so I can rig it in there. I do have experience with car audio installs, and this wouldn’t be a problem if I didn’t have the navigation system. Please help me, or give me some ideas. Thanks

just take a speaker in the rear behind the back seat.

extend that speaker wire to the amp, and then a new line to the speaker from the amp. that'd be the easiest way.

not sure of the colors though, they should be labeled, or labeled on the speaker...just make a note of it.

The problem with that is that they are floating ground or whatever, meaning there is no specific + or -, and there are 4 wires to each speaker. (From what everything I have read has been said. They didnt specify DPS or non DSP systems. I havent torn apart my car yet to see).

is it components?

it really shouldnt matter then with floating ground. try it both ways if you have problems.

or call BMW, ask them to tell you which wire is which. or go to the internal amp, and get one there. there has to be a way, its just finding the best one. I'd call a dealership, they are usually helpful...at least the one i call.

you'll have to call bmw, or get a manual and see if it tells you.

this is out of my league. be careful whatever you do. like those guys said, you do lose sound quality with line-level converters. the only way to keep the quality is to keep it high input all the way through and back to the speaker (this means dont put an rca jack on it). good luck!
