Thought I would give you guys an update.

The cluctch hydrolics are finally DONE, after about a month of dicking around they are all sorted out.

I drove the car a couple times, but since the roads are wet from snow... I cant tell how fast it is haha. In 2nd and 3rd once I hit 4k RPM the rear end breaks loose and the tires spin, maybe thats a good thing? :)

Its open headers now so I dont want to drive it much. She is happy hiding in storage for the winter :)

Anyways, Next summer I am getting a custom exhaust built, installing the roll bar and belts, and doing a brake upgrade.

Stay tuned for summer 2006! BTW Im going to try and get get down to bimmerfest, just depends on how soon the snow will decide to melt so I can get it on the road!

Whoa that's gonna be awesome when it's finished. Breaking the back loose in 3rd gear has to be a bit concerning doesn't it!? [hihi]

I think a big brake kit would be a good idea! And then all you need to do is polish the thing [thumb]

Well, I think im going to go with a set of e36 m3 brakes, from what I am told people almost run the nose of the car in the ground when stompin on the brake :) That has to be good. Parts will also be easy to find and not too expensive. I originally wanted e34 euro m5 N'ring brakes, 345 mm (13.38 inches) but... Cant find any and they are ungodly expensive.. lol

Trying to get my hands on some CF fenders too, if you remember the driver one is all smashed in still from a deer.

EDIT:

I found my front plate finally too! Woo Hoo! (it was in a box in that warehouse). Also I am going to make it a full year before I get new tags, they expired last july (05). Longest I made it before getting a ticket was 5 months. I must make it a year

Get 850csi M brakes. 4pot, 324mm, floating aluminum rotors.... probably better than both m5 and m3 brakes! $500.

Yea I have read that this is a great upgrade also. Apparently the 850i brakes will squeeze into 16" rims which is handy. Eric, I think you're actually referring to the 850i brakes when you say 324mm yeah? Or did the 850csi run the same brakes?

In any case, 324mm 4-pot anchors on an E30 M3 would tilt the earth off it's axis!

Oh yeah, deffinately. Where would you get em for only $500 though? I bet rotors alone will be on average 100 a pop.

Regularly on ebay for under $500 for a whole front set minus pads.

Chesty:
http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/brakes.htm (all are single piston except for the 850csi where it states "4 piston")
The "M" brake rotors are all pretty hot... they all have "///M" written on the hub of the rotor!

e34 brakes I think need a ton of work to get them to fit, the offsets are waaay off

The offset shouldn't effect the brakes, just the hub diameter. You would need a huge ass center ring and then huge spacers for the wheels (3er's are et42 i think, where as E34's are either et18 or et21.)

Yeah I had a look and it does say E31 840/850 with 324x30 4-pot calipers...

In any case, those ///M emblazoned rotors are just dripping with sexiness! Those things would even have the power to clamp Elizabeth Taylor to one marriage[hihi]

Well, I just spent about two hours reading this thread

http://www.s14.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11453&highlight=e36+brake

The used the 840ci brembo 4 pots, but then things got out of hand using e46 toros and custom bells, hoses, and spacers.

Ends up being a lot of money which I cant afford just to put into brakes.

But it is possible :)
There's a point where it's not worth it. You can get a brembo 4 pot or 6pot brake kit for the front for like $1500. So there is obviously a point where it won't make sense to go with the ATE-built stock 840/850/eurom5 brakes.
