e30 (325i) vs. 190e 2.6

so since im a multiple car owner and visit quite a few sites to get or confirm info/knowledge thats needed or i already have.
another site i visit that deals mostly with 190e mercedes benz have a poll going on at which is a better car ?
e30 325i or 190e 2.6 both stock and not modified and see which would perform better imo the e30 would win?

Id take the E30, but if it was a split between the 325i and the 190e 2.3 16v, id bag the 190.

About 7 years ago, I wanted a Mercedes 190E 2.5-16V cosworth. I couldn't find a decent example so I got a E30 325i Sport and was very chuffed with it.

Soon after a friend of mine bought a Merc 190 2.6ltr with the cosworth kit on it and we took it out. Performance wise the 190 2.6ltr was a tad behind the E30 325i and the handling was not as as good either (but the E30 was the one with the M-Tech ssuspension).

In my opinion, if you are after more excitement and performance, take the E30 325i. But the 190 2.6ltr is a decent motor none the less but those 190 16V Cosworths are amazing machines!

You guys in Europe get some hot versions of cars we don't get here in the States. I've never heard of this Cosworth Benz. But last year I was in Europe on vacation (holiday) and got into a pretty good race with an early 90s Benz 300E with the 24 valve engine. I was shocked at how damn fast that thing was. Our 300Es don't have that kind of juice.

I definately envy the offerings you guys have in Europe as compared to those we get here in North America. With the 190E, the thing is in manual trannys in Benz's are absolutely nothing compared to the BMW ones, and that will always be the shortfall of the 190E compared to the 3. I love both of the cars, and if i were to make a choice it would be extremely difficult, I'd take both lol.

this is kinda random but thanks for bring up the term of 190e, that brings me back so much memory cause it was my frist car

Jimmy you dog, the Evo's were a beast and the rarest and maddest benz's out there, why did you sell? I would give away my life for one of those. It's one of my all time favourite machines... sigh....

a 190e cosworth is a lovley car, but id take the 325. ive raced a cossie, 2.3 16 in my mates e36 m-tech 323,and he coulcnt keep up on the twistys.
