so today was the day where i could lay my hands on the bimmer designated to follow my current one.

specs
325Ci from April 01
dark green / beige leather individual
packed but no navigation
looks freakin good

the story
when i saw it first there was only one thing that had to be done, the sunroof cover thingy.
now i went to my dealer and grabbed the key. we went to the car, started and i drove my turns. the cover was fixed but when i touched it it almost fell from the sky in my hands. it was completly loose and absolutely crappy....big bummer.
then is started pushing the horses and shifted gears fast and hard. all of a sudden i had the knob in my hand!!! .... major bummer. few other things added that did not exactly made good for the bad impression i gained.

that car is out of my mind. but what´s even worse is, that the dealer really and acztually dares to put a car in that crappy shape in his showrooms and offers a drive....they might not ever sell a car to me. because i don´t know if they see me again

I Drove a new 325 a couple weeks ago. My dealer has a designated "demo" car that is used for test drives, and believe me, that thing gets worked. The sales person demostrated the the cars stability under extreme lateral acceleration both with and without ASC enabled. He also demostrated the ABS (look mom, no hands!), and came within inches of demonstating the front and side curtain airbags. The salesman had some pretty good driving skills, or I'm sure we would have been walking back.

My point is not that I had the coolest, or dumbest, sales person ever, but that the demo cars are probably the most abused cars.

I worked as a used car reconditioning manager at a local Ford dealer right after high school and I learned that you have to make sure everything is up to par . Some people get lazy on the job and its showing . Sounds like it left a very bad impression on you . If you do buy something from them get all the " fix its " in writing on the sales agreement..

the problem is that i do not buy a car of which i know that it had to be fixed. you know, as long as i don´t know that there were little flaws fixed by the dealer they can not bother me. but when i know that there was work to be done, it is just against my feelings to buy that car. especially when daler knows that i will come around to drive the bimmer. when i saw the car the first time the cover for the glas roof was missing. they "fixed" it the way i described above....not really trustworthy.

That's horrible. Someone needs to be fired. First impressions and little things like that matter, especially to someone in the market for a luxury car. I mean, if it were a used Yugo, that might be tolerated, but not for a BMW or even a Honda.

my words, my words...

i still believe in bmw and that it is an awesome brand. and i don´t think that the car has issues, but i could not establish this "please buy me and i won´t let you down" feeling [hihi]
any other bimmer might the complete opposite again.
