Dont you just hate it when you dont catch something VERY important when you need to? I am currently working on getting my winter car up to par. 1989 Chevy Celebrity 2.8, very common to have head gasket and intake gasket problems. I got it for free from the shop that I work at, it was left there for having coolant in the oil and the owners didnt want to fix it. N E WHO. I tore down the top end of the motor and sent out the heads to be cleaned pressure tested and machined. got them back a few days later and put it all together, ran it and immidiatly started getting compression in the coolant and coolant in the oil, !@#$!, the damn machine shop missed the cracked head. well, i figured i would bring the head in with me when i go in to rip them a new one. so tonight i rip the top end down again (only takes about an hour, really easy to work on), i only take off the rear head because that is the one that had the origional issue. Im looking at this head as close as possible and am not seeing anything, hmmm. So I walk over to the car and look at the block, !@#$!, the block was cracked between the #1 cylinder and about 3 of the water passages, !@#$%^&*!@#$%, why the hell didnt I see that before! i could have saved myself about 4 hours of work and $150 at the machine shop, now i gotta track down a short block to drop in it. my boss looks at it and says, "It's all about detail and watching what you are doing."
