After the Chrysler debacle, I would be very suspicious of any "partnering" discussions led by Zetsche!!!

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - DaimlerChrysler AG chief Dieter Zetsche said he is open to any engine development tie-up with Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, according to his interview with weekly Spiegel magazine.
'Yes, why not? The Porsche Cayenne with its VW gear boxes was successful,' he said.
He did say however: 'The risk is that there is a threat the difference between two brands would be diluted,' adding any such cooperation with BMW would be significant because Mercedes-Benz and BMW are competing in the same segment.
But on the other hand, he noted, the opportunities are particularly great because both 'produce similar vehicles that are technologically sophisticated'.
'I will not rule out such cooperations if they make sense for both sides,' he said.
He said he is against any cross-shareholdings between the two companies.
