crappy jack

Does anyone else think the factory jack in the trunk is a complete piece of crap? I have had my car fall off the jack twice now, since ive owned it...before anyone starts getting after me about using it wrong, putting it in the wrong spot...Its right...I know what Im doing, its just poor for any kind of slight depression in the road. just very flimsy, thats all... I completely ripped the side lower facia when the stupid jack rolled out of its perch tonight....Now i have to do the whole bodyshop thing. it sucks, thats all...thanks for letting me vent.

Yeah, the factory jacks usually do suck. You can pickup some higher quality jacks on eBay if you really feel you need a new one.

I plan on picking up a [small] hydraulic jack from Sears so I can remove my wheels

[once a month] in order to remove all that brake dust on the inner aspect of

the wheel.

I had to change my tire once and you're right. The car was starting to roll off but I realized it and quickly dropped the car before it fell off the jack. But then, I didn't have the handbrakes applied, so I guess it was my mistake. Anyway, the jack IS narrow on the base and will tend to rock when you apply force to unscrew the wheel lugs.
