cracked windshield.

I was greeted this mornning by a crack in the windshield of my 2001 M3 convertable. Lately I have heard that a lot of M3 and other e46's have had some problems with their windshields cracking. For no apparent reason my windshield cracked. It looks like a stress fracture. Anyone have thoughts on this.

My car is under warranty and I think it should be covered by the warranty.

Best just to take it on in now and see what they say. You don't want bumps on the road to cause the crack to grow some more.

If nothing caused it (like something striking it), then it is a manufacturing defect hence a warranty item. Of course I do not work in a BMW service dept, so no telling what BS they could come up with......
