Coolant evaporation 530

I have a 94 530i. Every couple of weeks I have to add fluid to the radiator. There does not seem to be a leak and I never see any fluid under the car. Could it be evporation around the reservoir cap. Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks for any help.

Could be a bad cap, but I would think without a good seal you would get some heating problems. Is the car running hotter than normal?

No, it has never run warm or overheated.

Check for cracks in the hose connecting the coolant tank and radiator. I had one on my 750 split and I lost coolant slowly.

In the past I've had both a hairline crack in the expansion tank and a cracked cap. Both of those left dried white radiator fluid near the leak. So if you have a leak I think you would be able to see the dried fluid around that area. I hope you're not loosing water in the engine.

Wouldn't the radiator run hot with an engine gasket leak? I do smell evaporated fluid often when I get out of the vehicle. I will check for an expension crack and the integrity of the hoses visibility permitting.
