Hi ,
I just bought a second hand 2001 330 1 se saloon manual 2 days ago. today i had a problem that makes no sense. I was going along at about 10 miles hr and was going to do a wheel squeek in second. i reved up the engine a release the clutch but nothing happen apart from the engine reving really high with out any hinderance!?!? then change gear and the same happened .. i let the rev's die down and released the clutch slowly and it was ok.. this happened 3 time at different time throughout the day. i called the garage who sold it to me and he said to bring it in. after traveling 30 miles to bristol to take it back. i tried to repeat but it would not happen. everytime i tried it the car would wheel spin??

does any one know or have suggestions as to what might be causeing this..

where should io go from here ??

any suggestions would be good.

oh it happened when traction control was off and when it was on and i could not smell any clutch at all..

thanks

I'm a bit confused. So you were trying to chirp the wheels in second? And when you reved the motor up and release the clutch you couldn't chirp it?

If you have DSC enabled, it will cut the throttle along with engaging the brakes if it senses wheel slippage.

yeah its weird.. it happens when the DSC is disabled as well . it happens when you are going about 10 miles per hr, put it into 1st the rev the engine and it doesn't engage.. its as if its not in gear!! then change to 2nd nothing happens.. let the engine calm down then engage slowly and its fine!! when i took the car back to the garage where i bought it i couldn't get the car to repeat the issue!! really frustrateing and worring as i bought it 2 days ago!!

any further suggestions?

yeah the car is fine.. drives loverly but if you rev it up to 4 - 4 1/2 it doesn't engage when doing a slow speed and down shifting..i.e. go round a roundabout accelerate then slow down to 10 miles an hour rev up and nothing happens!! let the revs settle then its as good as new . but its intermitent i couldn't get it to repeat when at the dealers where i bought it. really frustrating .. don't suppose you know of a good diagnostic software.??

thanks btw
