I'm trying to start a club / get to together of BMW and Volvo owners in Maryland / Baltimore area; a buddy of mine, who owns a Volvo, and I thought it would be fun to have gatherings, go to the local race track and just hang with other enthusiasts. We're probably going have some central location between Maryland and Pennsylvania. There's a track, Cecil County Raceway, that probably will be were we first meet. If anyone is interested let me know; I'm trying to gauge interest before going any further.

Thanks.

I might be interested as long as I am not busy during the meeting since I would need some time to drive up there. Keep us posted and if I may note, great idea.

Sean, don't you guys have an active chapter of BMW CCA there? It is very hard to compete with them as they are the largest car club going, over 70k members. I like your idea and at times have thought about doing the same thing, but to rent a track it costs around 3-5k and that is hard to do. I do not mean to discourage you at all, but check with your local CCA chapter (if you have one) and see how you can get involved. I started by being a track volunteer, a great way to get involved, learn and see some nice cars up close. I was a member of the Executive Board of a local chapter for over six years. Just some thoughts. Good luck!

Whoa, whoa, Big Daddy! I think you've over estimated my ambitions. Cecil County Raceway is like an $8 admission per vehicle...and I think everyone can manage their own admission fee. lol. I have no intention of renting a race track, but rather have a bunch of people meet up there to race around and share tips, modifications stories, et cetera. And have a bunch of guys meet at a local shopping plaza sometimes and just chill out. And my local CCA chapter is not really what I was going for; I am just going for something a bit more casual then that; it's just going to be a gathering I guess, maybe I'll put together a website or something. Any ideas would be appreciated.

The way things are looking, July is probably the first time we'll probably have a 'meet.'

I should've said this before...if you are interested, send me a PM with an email address and your first name and I'll add you to the list and notify you through group emails. Thanks for the interest!!

I know a guy in the Tri-Cities Washington who did the same thing, just by word of mouth organized a meet with a lot of socializing and than a short spirited drive. The first event he had 30+ cars! If that is what your interested try some fliers at local parts houses and tire shope, these seem to work well. Also when you have it organized place the information in the proper regional forum here. Good luck to you and if I can think of any other advice I will PM you.
