The Chrysler 300 has been released in Australia and is pitted squarely against the biggest selling sedan's here made by Holden (owned by GM) and Ford. I saw one the other day and personally I don't like the styling. How is this car selling where you live? Any overwhelming public approval/disproval.

2 words...UGLY..oh wait...that is only 1 word..hows this UGLY,UGLY.

Typical American gas guzzling freak of nature car.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. It just looks out of proportion, though when I saw it on the road, it didn't look this bad...I think I saw the 300c.

I agree with coyotefreek, I think the front looks great but I'm not too crazy about the rest of it.

One nice option on this car is that you can get the 5.7 liter Hemi with 340 horsepower.

I think one of the problems here is that the demographics don't fit this board. The car cost 33k and is a big family sedan. It looks like a very nice car for the money.

Seems like a fine car (by American standards) - very decent performance with teh Hemi. I have only seen pics -and pics of the Dodge magnum - which looks pretty cool to me...retro....but neither is really the car for me - way too big!

I think it looks very nice. Definatly a step up, especially for an american car. I think the styling is great. The back is so-so, but the front and sides look awesome. It looks so powerful seeing it cruise down the road. I dont really like how Chrysler is making such a big deal of the Hemi though. They portray it as some 600hp muscle car engine, and it seems like sort of shady advertising. But oh well, its a nice car

I agree, for what it is...it's not bad. I don't mind their new imposing Armitage look. Not for me, but okay.

The new 300z is pretty nice looking in the front, kinda reminds me of a bentley/jaguar combo with a little bit of Maz' mixed in. The rear is pretty beefy.. It was slated to be the 'BMW killer', the next car to compete with the new 5 series, but it doesn't quite hold up to a 545 (by far), even with the hemi..

I just saw them taking 2 of them around a track on SpeedWorld on TV.. 2 big silver boxes sliding around like nuts, squealing tires, with alot of lean.

Typical American car, beefy, good bit of HP muscle, but take it into a twisty, and you sound like a pinto squealing doing 15mph hitting the lip of a sidewalk.. On the inside, it certainly has the Benz glamour going on (Hmm, you'd hope for that since MB runs Chrysler). All the neat time pieces and chrome/silver trim to spiff things up.

I can't even get my car to squeal in a corner because it's so much like glue.. When will someone actually design a American car that 'handles' as well as it goes fast??

I test drove the 300 today (a typical) Chrysler.

This car screams Mercedes-Benz all over – the hemi has been around for a long time and they’re finally dumping it into those “American <Insert – China, Mexico, Canada, South America and Southeast Asia here> Cars”.

For those that don’t know the “hemi” or hemispheric engine design has been in BMWs, MBs, Audi’s, and pretty much every other European car for decades and now this car and the whole “hemi” revolution is finally taking place with Chrysler and Dodge because of they’re owners.

The take off is pretty smooth and I can honesty say it is a very fast car that performs well, except: its design is not very original (looks like a Rolls Royce Phantom) actually it’s ugly. It has a semi-chopped roof like what they used to do with cars way back when. It does have a lot of room (and head room) but it has a very cheap looking and actually cheap parts like the leather the plastic everything, the demo car that I drive had wood trim on the door handles and on the steering wheel and that was it looked weird???

Braking was ok but absolutely nothing compared to my two cars – when you brake the car moves in the typical forward motion I didn’t like that because it was very noticeable cheap suspension.

Overall I couldn’t imagine buying one they’re just too typical Chrysler where they like to kick out unique cars that are from other designs like the PT Cruiser and Mini Cooper – it was priced about $33,000.

My opinion it’s very cheap – a lot of power but masked by 15 Miles to the Gallon!

I have at 50mph on an off ramp that had a sharp curve and the tires squealed not to mention the tail swung... I don't think the BMW handles up to the hype. It handles extremely well, but lets be realistic... [;)]

Not to mention the car leaned to the right heavily and sent my front and rear passengers into the door panels and eachother [:D]

Your car had 3-4 passengers it sounds like, try that same stretch with only yourself and say again? Suspension aside, do you have stock wheels, or something with a little more rubber on the road? I'd have to leave it in 2nd and floor it in a corner to lose it at 50mph?? (then again I have a slow car..)

I'm matching a single driver to single driver here scenario here, as I saw them on Speedworld test driving (If you could pace a 545 against it). Those boxy shiney rear ends were more sideways then anything.

(and I forget sometimes I'm not quite stock anymore). :/

The reason that your car leans like that is because you have NO performance options and I assume you have a sedan. BMW has softened it's stock suspensions, especially those on the typical bought-for-wife (don't take offense to it, but around here it's true) near-stock 3 series. I guarantee if you took that same on ramp with, say, a grand prix... it wouldnt be able to even GO 50 around the turn w/out near flipping over.

If you had a 330Ci with sport package (or just a 330Ci coupe) you would notice a HUGE difference. Get an M3 and you're talking handling and brakes that is better than that of a Mclaren F1 (if you dont believe me, do the research!!).

Yeah, and balance of the car really matters too. If you just go into a turn and jam on the brakes while in the turn, of course the car will just get raped. You have to break before you enter the turn, and you have to accelerate throughout the turn (generally speaking, it's more on a case-by-case basis). When you jam on the brakes and make a right turn, all the weight is transferred to the front and to the front left wheel (the outter wheel of course). The idea is to create a perfect balance to all four tires in order to get the best handling out of the car. It's like you have to work for the suspension to make it work for you.
I have found that BMW's handle poor weight distribution pretty well (because of all these auto-driving noobs that I know that like to take turns hard, but have no idea of how to take the turn hard PROPERLY), but all cars need to be properly balanced through the turn for their suspension to work best. I can tell you, for example, that my car can take turns MUCH faster when I balance it properly...it's like the car's way of rewarding the driver, lol.

Personally, after looking at one at the dealership, they look nice, the one I sat in was the touring model and did not have the Hemi......nice engine.....but I really liked the car. Interior is very well done and not cheap looking. If I could afford the 300C with the Hemi, I would get one, just the price is in the mid 35K with the options I want, a bit too expensive.
