Check this out: Indiglow BMW Roundel Emblems

#1
Just browsing around on eBay and came accross something I've never seen before. This guy is selling indiglow bmw hood and trunk emblems. They connect to the cars 12V supply and glow. I don't think they would look good on all cars, but I do have a Delphin Gray exterior which would match the colors quite well. I would like to order one just because I'm so curious as to what they would look like, but the only thing is the price is a little high.

Has anyone else ever seen these on any other Bimmers? I think it could be a cool novelty thing if, when turned off, they look just like the stock ones. That way you can have them wired to a cabin switch to show of too friends at night time.

Yeah, definitly a little ricy. Like I said though, I think it might be a cool novelty feature to have them on a switch, not to have it on all the time.

So how does that guy justify selling them if they're illegal in every state?

And what is it, any blue light is illegal to have on your car?

Same way they sell aftermarket exhaust, and other little questionable trinkets, legal disclaimer on the package, "not intended for street use", or "off road use only". Have you seen the flashing valve stem caps that WalMart sells, dumb and illegal! And yes, as far as I know blue lamps, globes, reflectors, etc. are reserved for police only.

It's not illegal to put on your car, hehe, you just can't actually turn it ON while you're on the road! Yeah, hook it up to a flasher circuit so it flashes like a Christmas tree when then car is parked at night. Hmm, actually, that gives me an idea for a new product featuring the Honda logo..... I'll bet I could sell a million or two.

Actually the codes read so that you can not even have blue lenses or globes, for a violation it does not require that they be lit or not. For example Idaho code: "Police vehicles. Only police vehicles shall display blue lights, lenses or globes." Nothing about them being lit. Most state motor vehicle laws are the same and or a copy of anothers. I just do not want anything on my car that gives anyone PC to stop me.

Thanks for the clarification. Here in PA, a similar law exists, but only for red lights. Anyone can put a blue light on their car, that's the color for volunteer firemen, but it is illegal to use it unless you are responding to an official call for firemen.

Blue dots are actually mentioned in both the RCW (revised code of Washington) and the Idaho code. They are permitted in the brake lamps by both codes on vehicles over thirty years old. I remember them, but I am not old......ok maybe a little.

I agree with Big Daddy, a lot of old cars have exceptions, but in Illinois only police vehicles can have blue lights. The main reason they do this is because red light is the light that spreads the least so it’s better in the daytime. Blue light spreads the easiest and contrasts the most with all of the red lights on the road and night, “see blue lights pull to the right.”

I understand & agree with all the states regulations...

In this case, I don't think there would be enough intensity from the blue light

[displayed forward] to where law enforcement would bother you. Especially if it's not

flashing...

i don't care if that thing is legal in all 50 states by law, but daym....the riceboy police are gonna be all over that thing hahahaha. That thing is soo cheese. also to answer that above entry dealing with blue xenons....real HID's don't shine BLUE after warmed up. It's a very bright white with maybe a slightly blue tint. But most of the hints of blue are gone after the HID's are on for a minute.
